DESCRIPTION:Genetic variation between individuals results in a range of hum
an phenotypes. Variants that fall within coding regions of genes generally
have direct effects on the proteins encoded by the genes with which they
overlap. \n\nThis six-hour virtual workshop will provide participants wit
h an opportunity to gain hands-on experience of using EMBL-EBI tools and r
esources to assess the effects of genetic variants on the structure and fu
nction of proteins in a common workflow. \n\nDuring the course\, a single
example will be used throughout. It will involve running a Variant Call F
ormat (VCF) file through the Ensembl Variant Effect Predictor (VEP)\, then
following links to other relevant EMBL-EBI resources and tools.\n\nInterp
reting the effects of genetic variants on protein structure and function 2
027 is currently under development. For reference\, you can visit the [20
 26 course edition webpage](https://www.ebi.ac.uk/training/events/interpret
 ing-effects-genetic-variants-protein-structure-and-function-2026).\n\n**Vi
rtual course**\n\nThis course will take place on Zoom. Trainers will be av
ailable to assist during practical sessions\, answer questions\, and provi
de further explanations during the Zoom.\n\nTo join the course you will ne
ed to create an [EMBL-EBI Training website account](https://www.ebi.ac.uk
 /training/user/register).
